Guided tour + studio art class

See Art Make Art

Let the museum’s collection inspire your students, then have them put that inspiration to use by creating their own work of art. See Art Make Art is open to all students—with and without disabilities—from grades K to 12, and takes them on an hour-long docent-led gallery tour, followed by an art activity taught by a professional teaching artist.

See Art Make Art is free through the generous support of VSA Hawaii. Art supplies and transportation are included in the program.

To cater to teachers’ and students’ diverse interests and needs, we offer three versions of See Art Make Art.

See Art Make Art: The Masterpieces

Where:
Honolulu Museum of Art
When:
Tuesdays, 9am-noon, year round

Honolulu Museum of Art
When:
Tuesdays, 9am-noon, June 14, 2012 to Jan. 13, 2013
Art can go anywhere, even on the body. In this exhibition, students will learn how cultures from the Pacific, Japan, and the United States expressed themselves through body art. Then they head to the Art School to express themselves by creating their own body art.

See Art Make Art: Spalding House
What: Tour of education-focused exhibition A Thousand Words and Counting and art project
Where:
Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House
When:
 Thursdays, 10am-noon, Aug. 22-Nov. 21, 2012
This summer, the museum launches a new concept in exhibitions, focusing on an aspect of education. We start with the topic of literature. Through the artwork in A Thousand Words and Counting, students will see how a story unfolds, learn about heroes and villains, and search for meaning in images and words. Students take what they’ve learned on the tour and blend art and literature into something special in the Spalding House classroom.
