28th Annual World Art Bazaar
Nov. 28-Dec. 13
10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays • 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays
Academy Art Center at Linekona

Each year, more than 3,000 of Honolulu’s savviest shoppers start their holiday season with a visit to this annual event.

The World Art Bazaar is a one-of-a-kind shopping opportunity for Honolulu, with its carefully selected array of antique and contemporary handcrafted items, from tree ornaments to intriguing clothing from around the globe. Items are chosen so there is something to fit every budget, and most contemporary crafts are Fair Trade. But the event has another goal: to preserve fast-disappearing traditional crafts in a big-box retail world.

Among hundreds of available-nowhere-else pieces, offerings this year include:
• Bollywood-ready traditional Indian costume jewelry, such as handpainted enamel earrings from Rajasthan
• Japanese stencils from the 1930s
• vintage ikebana baskets, ceramics and lacquer, and obi from Japan
• antique African beads
• Zuni maiden with tablita (the headdress worn during a corn dance).
• Vintage Japanese haori (jackets) and obi (sashes)
• Vintage Chinese containers and furniture details
