Teacher Resources
Hawaii teachers can get free admission to the Academy during regular museum hours by showing their school ID or union card to the front desk. Out-of-state teachers can get a discounted rate of $5.
The Honolulu Academy of Arts works closely with teachers and schools to bring art into the everyday lives of students.Our goal is to help you make the most out of your visit to the Academy. We do this by offering you many resources such as:

SCHOOL TOURS
We offer a variety of exciting school tours (many of which are free) that support benchmarks in several subjects. Discover our offerings on our School Tours Page and on our Ambassador Outreach Program Page. You can also take your students on a Self-guided tour. Click here to request a tour.

TEACHER WORKSHOPS
In conjunction with the openings of our special exhibitions, the Museum Learning Center hosts free teacher workshops for all educators in the state of Hawai'i. The workshops include a tour of the exhibition, lectures about the artwork, and an opportunity to share teacher resources and best practices. Click here see our upcoming workshops.

CURRICULUM GUIDES
Our Curriculum Guides supplement the school tours by providing K-12 teachers with suggested lessons and activities that address HCPS III benchmarks in a variety of subjects. The guides also provide teachers with tour images.

Anna Rice Cooke founded the Honolulu Academy of Arts in 1927 in order to share her love of the arts with the children and people of Hawaii:
"That our children of many nationalities and races, born far from the centers of art, may receive an intimation of their own cultural legacy and wake to the ideals embodied in the arts of their neighbors…"
