The Academy Art Center, opened in 1990 in the historic Linekona building, is the hub of the Honolulu Academy of Arts' arts education programming hub. Education was the driving force behind the founding of the museum, and the Academy has offered classes and tours since it opened in 1927. Generations of artists, from noted childrens book illustrator Mercer Mayer to painter Dorothy Faison got their start taking art classes at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
Today, the Academy Art Center reaches approximately 60,000 children and adults each year through studio art classes, workshops with visiting artists, school programs, outreach programs, and exhibitions.

Studio Art Classes
Explore your creative side with a wide range of studio art classes at the Academy Art Center at Linekona, located across from the main museum. Courses include drawing, painting, Chinese brush painting, printmaking, jewelry, ceramics, weaving and special workshops. Classes fill up quickly.
Studio art classes for adults are offered in day and evening sessions during Spring and Fall semesters.

Saturday studio art classesfor young people (grades K-12) are offered in Spring and Fall.
A popular six-week summer program is offered in June and July.
The Honolulu Printmakers, located at the Academy Art Center, offer a fully equipped print studio. Become a member to use the facilities.
Exhibitions featuring work by Hawai'i's contemporary artists are held throughout the year in two galleries.
