About the Performance:
In a departure from our usual slack-key series, local music stars Kenny Endo, Noel Okimoto and Dean Taba play their singular blend of jazz, traditional Japanese music and hints of exotica. Endo is an internationally renowned performer and the leading name in the resurgent popularity of Japanese taiko; Okimoto is one of Hawai‘i's top drummers, vibraphonists and percussionists; and Taba is busy as a Los Angeles studio bassist and composer, and leads his highly regarded eponymous quartet. Last summer the trio released the CD Rhythm Summit, which the Star Advertiser called “one of the year's landmark local releases."
